Ministers of Lelana

• BELIEFS:  Lelana is the lesser goddess of Balance and the patron of the Kuriel Nation.  Rarely worshipped in the E'gath Empire, she is the daughter of Lillith and a Dominion named Ezethrial.  The union of the two is still a mystery to most, but some believe that even the goddess of evil has a few moments of love and goodness within her.  The goddess of the Balance, Lelana has a simple precept.  Do as you will, but be prepared to pay the price.  Every action has a reaction, and it is not always pleasant.  
• SKILLS & ABILITIES:  
  • Ministers of Lelana have the following skills: 1 Combat Skill, 1 Social Skill, 1 Knowledge or Guild Skill,  1 Wilderness or Physical Skill, and 1 skill of choice.
  • In keeping with this philosophy she grants her ministers various powers as they grow in knowledge and faith, but each one has a cost.  A minister may make one selection at creation, and one additional selection at levels 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25.  Sample powers follow, but the player and GM should make more as desired.
    • Minister may not kill or slay any living creature, but gains a 15% + 3% per level chance of having the effect of a Save From Death cast when the minister is dying.
    • Cannot eat the flesh of animals, but can digest nearly any organic material safely.
    • Cannot drink wine or other alcoholic beverages, but can drink any other liquids safely.
    • Cannot wield a weapon or learn any offensive spells or skills, but can cast spells as a Type A spell caster.
    • Cannot learn any physical skills, but knowledge skills gain a + 5 bonus.
    • Minister cannot lie, but has a 15% + 3% chance per level of detecting other's lies.
    • Cannot strike in anger, but gains a +7 bonus to Defensive Tactics.

Changelings of Lokin

• BELIEFS:  Lokin was a disciple of Loreth several centuries before.  He spent his life learning about nature, animals, and the realm of his god.  In his later years he came upon a startling conclusion: nature is always changing.  Water is constantly reshaping the land, plants and trees develop differently in new climates, and animals change and adapt to their surroundings.  In the last few years of his life he began preaching this new philosophy to his fellow disciples.  While this sect is still very small it is slowly gaining status and power within the  church of Loreth.
• SKILLS & ABILITIES:  
  • Changelings begin the game with Foraging, Herbalism, Lore: Natural Changes, 1 Wilderness skill, and 1 skill of choice.
  • As the changeling ages, their eye, skin, and hair colors will change almost imperceptibly to another full color, and then the process will begin anew.  This is uncontrolled and may not be halted.  If the changeling desires, he may attempt a ¼ WIL roll to speed up the process to the next color of one item (hair, skin, or eyes).  In addition the changelings may temporarily alter their attributes.  One attribute point per level may be moved from one attribute to another.  This effect lasts one hour and cannot be used with Luck.
• EQUIPMENT:  Changelings begin the game with a staff or ornate walking stick.

• BELIEFS:  In the time before Selan, Khadina had a son.  He taught his son all of his knowledge, skill, and prepared his son to assist in his duties of the afterlife.  Medraut learned those lessons well and was soon helping the transition of souls to Varloche.  All was well until his son grew to manhood.  Lillith saw the young man, and devoted herself to his seduction and ultimate corruption.  Medraut fell into her trap of lust and dark longings with a vengeance and bound himself to her for time and all eternity.  

Their alliance, and dalliance, continued and deepened throughout the eons.  The relations between Medraut and his father worsened until finally there was a great clash between them.  Medraut began using his knowledge of his father's realm against him, creating the first of the creatures collectively known as Undead.  Medraut draws the soul back from Varloche and places it into the corpse.  Souls that have not traveled to Varloche (i.e. devotees, protectors, and priests of another god) cannot be turned into undead.  He also trained certain mages in the dark arts of reclaiming and enslaving the souls of the departed.  The art and college of necromancy was born.  This dark knowledge has been passed down through the generations and has spread beyond the faithful few priests of Medraut.  The holy symbol of Medraut is a black rune on a royal purple background.  Necromancers rarely wear their purple vestments, except on certain special occasions.  Medraut does not have many apostles, preferring to reward  them with an eternity as liches and scourges.

• SKILLS & ABILITIES:  The necromancers of Medraut have the following skills at creation: Necromancy, Learn Spells, Cast Spells: Necromancy, Lore: Undead, and one of choice.
  • Necromancers are A type spell casters in Cast Spells: Necromancy only.
  • Necromancers who do not have a high enough total of INT +  WIL will still be able to cast spells through the power of Medraut.  However, they must make a human sacrifice during the new moon of every month.  Those who do not make this sacrifice cannot channel the energy from Medraut to cast their spells.
  • Necromancers who do have a high enough total of INT + WIL gain a special bonus.  They may attempt to control any undead creature within their visual range (night vision at night and normal vision during the day).  They have a 15% + 3% chance per level with a penalty equal to the banishment penalty for the creature.  If currently under the direct control of another Necromancer of Medraut, the skill is used as a contested action.  Other necromancers may subtract one quarter of their WIL from the skill of the usurper.
• EQUIPMENT:  One set of purple robes, their holy symbol, and one ornate sacrificial knife and bowl.

Seers of Alrothna

• BELIEFS: Seers open themselves spiritually to Alrothna and the world in order to more greatly understand it.  Seeking knowledge on the path of self & spiritual awareness, they become in tune with the realms around them.  Completely non-violent, Seers believe that war and combat only strains friendships and creates obstacles to true awareness.  Seers wear light blue vestments and often use a blindfold when focusing their powers.
• SKILLS & ABILITIES: 
  • Seers begin the game with the following skills: Sense Aura, Lore: Divination Methods, Notice Ambush, Realize Worth, and ESP.
  • Extra Sensory Perception (ESP) is granted to all Seers by Alrothna.  It should be treated as a skill with the base attributes of AWA + INT + LUC.  The exact effects and powers must be determined by the GM, but most Seers can perform the following tasks.
    • Prophetic Dreams - Seers will occasionally have dreams which are given to them by Alrothna.  These dreams are possible futures and may or may not occur.  The GM must decide when such a dream occurs and how much detail is provided.
    • Item Memory - All items absorb the history and emotions of the people who surround them.  Seers have the ability to read such information from the item.  The more detailed and exacting the memory, the greater the penalty the GM should apply.
    • Aural Viewing - While similar to the Sense Aura skill, this ESP ability applies only to living creatures.  It gives the Seer the knowledge of the general emotions, attitude, and disposition of the creature being watched.  In addition it will determine the general level of health, both physical and mental, of the person viewed.
• EQUIPMENT:  Seers begin the game with powder blue robes and blindfold.

Order of Foster the wise

• BELIEFS:  During the ancient times of the early empire, one holy man was given a great gift from Synnia, goddess of craftsmen.  The spread the knowledge of this gift far and wide until men of every social class and occupation cheered his name.  The gift was the knowledge of beer and ale.  Foster dedicated his life to learning the brewing process and improving the quality of his gift.  Currently the Order of Foster is a small one, still loved and revered by the common man.  They still try to improve upon Foster's original ideas and recipes, but have included other alcohols such as whisky and other grain alcohols.
• SKILLS & POWERS:  
  • The followers of Foster have the following skills at creation: Lore: Brewing Ale & Beer, Teaching, Lore: Whisky, and two skills of choice.
  • Blessing of the Brew
    • Followers of Foster can bless one keg of ale or beer every week for every five levels of experience.
    • Increase the quality of the ale or beer.  It simply tastes better.
    • Increase the purity of the ale or beer.  It removes all of the impurities out of the beverage.  Poisons, toxins, diseases, and other harmful elements are remove.
    • Increase the quantity of the beer or ale by half the original amount.
  • Increased tolerance to alcohol.  Followers gain a bonus of 25 + their level to any health roll concerning alcohol.
  • Sustenance.  Followers of Foster can subsist on only beer or ale.  This ability is present whether or not the Follower continues to eat regular meals.  For this reason most followers are quite large men.
